Directed the development, programs and operations of a nonprofit firm providing management training, consulting and information services to a broad spectrum of nonprofits.  Duties included fundraising, setting strategic direction, hiring and supervising management team, developing and supporting the Board of Directors, handling or supervising corporate governance, contract, personnel, tax and other legal matters for the corporation, as well as counseling the corporation’s nonprofit clients on legal matters.  Highlights include:

§         Grew the organization over 300%, from a staff of six and a budget of $500,000 in 1997 to a staff of 19 and annual budget of $2 million

§         Raised over $6 million in grants and contract funds and, through concurrent growth in fees for service, maintained earned revenue as 60% share of total revenue

§         Led network of 14 management assistance organizations in fulfilling $1.75 million contract with foundation to provide capacity building assistance to over 250 grantees statewide

§         Expanded Center’s programs and services, including:

ú         Organizational development consulting program

ú         Knowledge and Information Services program, including a Nonprofit Resource Library staffed by expert information services professionals

ú         NPower Los Angeles program providing technology training and consulting services

ú         HealthyCity.org, a Web resource for mapping and analyzing the availability of community resources in Los Angeles County

ú         Arts Loan Fund providing short-term debt financing for nonprofit arts organizations
